Brucellosis
Brucellosis is a zoonotic bacterial disease caused by Brucella spp., significantly impacting the global cattle industry. It leads to reduced productivity due to abortion, infertility, decreased milk production, and culling of infected animals. Economic losses also arise from trade restrictions and the cost of control measures. This report provides a detailed analysis of economic losses attributed to brucellosis infections in the meat and dairy industries across different regions and countries from 2014 to 2024. The most affected country in Brazil and Argentina with Dairy Industry losses estimated at $500 million annually, totalling $5 billion and Beef Industry losses of $350 million annually, totalling $3.5 billion in 2014-2024
